Qualifications

I graduated from Wadham College, University of Oxford in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Modern Languages – French (Class 2.1)

From 1994-1995 I was enrolled as a visiting student on the MA Program in Linguistics at the University of Chicago, USA, studying Level 2 Georgian to satisfy the non-Indo-European language requirement.

Between 1995 and 1998 I worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language and as a freelance translator (French – English) and continued private study of Georgian.

In 1999 I passed the Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation (Georgian-English) and worked as a freelance Georgian-English translator for several years.

In 2005 I gained a BSc in Speech and Language Therapy and was employed until 2009 in an acute hospital, working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.

I returned to freelance translation work in 2008.
